Male red back fairy wren delights in the regenerating areas

What has happened since the last working bee

Good news. Professional bush regenerators  have continued working on the removal of weeds from Grassy Head and surrounds

You can click on all photos for a closer look!

Beach erosion

Above photo july 2011 Grassy Head View Platform
below august 2012 showing terrible loss of dune

.
September 2012 more erosion

 January 2013
Platform completely washed away. Notice the dunes are settling and more angled.

The latest high tides and large swells have continued to erode Grassy Head beach. The photos of the old viewing platform tell the story. In comparison the beach on the southern side of the headland first lost then accumulated some sand. Our latest floods will probably take more or give more sand back somewhere!!

Next working bee– volunteers welcome!
The fire has made access easier and in places there are small bitou and lantana plants that are now easier to see and easy to remove. Often they can be hand pulled or dug out with a small hand mattock. We will be taking advantage of the current conditions to remove these and to replace some of the burnt Banksias near the access track.
